I’ve been out on a European sojourn to renew my visa and visit family and friends. Epic adventures in France and Italy left me exhausted and I’ve been pretty ill over the last week but my first day of feeling better has left me wondering if I am totally crazy… Nerve wrackingly I have just signed up for another Olympic distance tri. Does it ever get any easier/less scary? The adrenaline pumping through my body right now makes me think not but perhaps that’s why we become addicted.
I’m buying an upgraded bike from a friend so I’m very excited about that! It was time that my beautiful dinosaur Bobby was relegated to being my indoor trainer bike (seriously feels like riding an 18 wheeler around).
As much as I hate getting up at ridiculous o’clock, I’m really excited to get back into a routine and back out into the training world… Give me a week or two and I’ll be grumbling again! I want to really focus hard on prepping for Austin 70.3 and see how I fare over the next 6-8 weeks before making a decision if there is still sign up space.
As for my adventures on the other side of the pond; I was fortunate enough to catch up with old friends and make a few new ones as well! We kayaked, hiked, bouldered, climbed and paddled our way through France and Italy. We went to the most amazing waterfall in Cogne, Lillaz, and hiked up river in glacial waters (actually thought I might lose my legs it was that cold.. My bones actually froze!). We did some rock jumps but the water was very low so only small ones.
